Concrete floors are no longer grey and ugly. With stained and coloured concrete, you can add several different designs and patterns to the surface. With the help of concrete it is now possible to have stunning floors. An increasing number of people are opting for this because of the versatility and the affordability of this material.
However, these treatments would not last long if you do not seal the surface. We at M.S.B Tiling and Polishing always encourage our clients to choose Sealed Concrete surfaces. You also need to reseal the surface once in about 3 to 10 years, depending on the type of sealant you use. We use different types of sealants depending on our client’s budget and needs, and are familiar with all of them.
Types of Sealers used in Sealed Concrete
There are different types of sealants available with us:
- Penetrating Sealers – These sealers soak into the concrete surface and react chemically with it. This helps shielding the concrete from moisture and to some extent; it protects it from the freeze-thaw action. These sealers are best for outdoor surfaces. They also provide a natural, matt finish.
- Acrylic – These sealers apply a thin, protective coating on the surface. They are a good option for those looking for a quick polish without spending too much money. They are suited for both indoor and outdoor applications but are not as long lasting as other sealants.
- Polyurethanes – These sealants form a highly durable protective coating over the surface of the concrete. They are good for indoor as well as outdoor applications and provide resistance against staining and scuffs. They also provide different levels of sheen, depending on your preference. We can apply them on stained, decorative, and stamped concrete surfaces.
- Epoxies – Similar to polyurethanes, these sealants form a durable protective film on the surface. They work well indoors but might trap moisture in concrete. It is best to limit this treatment to indoor surfaces.
